Keep Them Safe
Premier's Message
The NSW Government's Action Plan, Keep Them Safe: A shared approach to child wellbeing marks a turning point for the way Government agencies work together and in partnership with non government organisations to better support children, young people and their families.
Many significant reforms to the child protection system will be introduced over the next year, and the Government is committed to maintaining strong communication with the public and the non government sector.
This website provides information on the key changes in child protection and provides useful links to more specialised information.
All the latest news is also available in the Keep Them Safe e-newsletter which can be accessed from this site.
At the launch of Keep Them Safe I expressed my desire for NSW to be the world leader in child protection and early intervention and prevention services. I look forward to working with you to make this happen, because the children and young people of NSW deserve the very best.
The Hon. Nathan Rees
NSW Premier
Minister for Community Services' Message
Welcome to the NSW Government's Keep them Safe: A Shared Approach to Child Wellbeing website.
Keep them Safe is the Government's five-year plan to fundamentally change the way children and families are supported and protected in this state.
This website is full of information for teachers, police officers, childcare workers and other mandatory reporters about the key changes to the states child protection system.
These changes mark the beginning of a new era of collaboration and partnership between government, community organisations and the wider community.
As Justice Wood emphasised in his report from the Special Commission of Inquiry into Child Protection, the care and wellbeing of children is first and foremost the responsibility of parents, families and the community.
I look forward to working with you to better protect and support our children and families.
The Hon. Linda Burney
Minister for Community Services
